Alana Blanchard (born March 5, 1990) is an American professional surfer. At 21 years of age, Blanchard has gained fame as "one of the best female surfers,"^[1] Alana is a ASP World Tour surfer,^[2] based in Kauai, Hawaii. She is best friends with fellow surfer Bethany Hamilton, Alana was present when Hamilton suffered the shark attack that cost her an arm, and Hamilton likely survived due to the fact that she is a surfer and her calmness. She is played by actress Lorraine Nicholson in the 2011 film Soul Surfer.
